Overview/Target AudienceShare The Vision is a two-day learning and networking event that brings together hundreds of West Virginians working to combat substance abuse and promote community well-being. Participants include community coalition members, prevention and treatment professionals, educators, law enforcement, counselors, social workers, youth, and representatives of various state and local organizations. Conference workshops and keynote speakers provide information and skills necessary to expand and strengthen West Virginia?s substance abuse prevention system. Topics will cover: Making sense of demographic and substance abuse-related data; Building and sustaining community coalitions/partnerships/advisory boards; Selecting and implementing strategies proven to be effective; Effectively communicating/marketing prevention messages; Staying on top of substance abuse trends and related issues; Measuring community change through evaluation; The substance abuse treatment process and options in WV.
RegistrationOnline registration, which will be available this fall at www.PrevNET.org/stv, is encouraged. Participants may also complete and mail paper registration forms to: Share the Vision Conference, WVPRC, 100 Angus E. Peyton Dr., South Charleston, WV 25303. Paper registration forms are included in the STV 2009 Information/Registration Mailer(to be distributed in early September 2009). Paper registration forms can also be printed from www.PrevNET.org/stv or obtained by calling Jo Beyer at 304.766.6301 ext. 21. To receive the early bird registration rate of $125, your registration must be received by Oct. 16. Participant registration will continue through Nov 6 (regular registration fee is $150). After that date, individuals wishing to participate must register at the conference registration desk Nov 17 or 18 and pay the $175 late conference registration fee.
FeesConference fees include all sessions, workshops, and materials; continental breakfast and afternoon snacks Nov. 17 & 18, the luncheon Nov.18; and the handling of all continuing education fees. Conference fees are $125 for those registering early (until Oct. 16). The regulcar conference registration fee for those registering those registering past the early bird date through Nov. 6 is $150. Walk-up-up registrants Nov 17 or 18 must pay $175. The fee for youth ages 18 & under is $75.
PaymentConference fees may be paid with cash, checks, money orders, Visa/Master cards, or by purchase order. Invoices will be emailed to you upon WVPRC receipt of your registration form.
Cash Payments: Please do not mail cash. Cash payments may be hand delivered to the WV Prevention Resource Center (WVPRC) or paid at the conference registration desk.
Check or Money Order Payments: Please make checks/money orders payable to WVPRC / MURC and mail to the WVPRC either with your paper registration form or the invoice mentioned above.
Credit Card Payment (Visa or MasterCard Only): Please provide your credit card info by completing and mailing to the WVPRC the invoice mentioned above.
Purchase Order Payments: If you do not yet have a purchase order number, please provide it by completing and mailing to the WVPRC the invoice mentioned above.
CancellationsIf you must cancel your conference registration, please call 304.766-6301 ext. 21 immediately. No refunds, however, can be made.
Registration Fee WaiversA limited number of conference registration waivers will be made available until October 16, 2009. Registration waivers cover the conference registration fees only and do not include lodging, travel or meals. To apply for a registration waiver, please select the Registration Fee Wavier option under the Method of Payment section of the Conference Registration Form, and complete the justification information requested there.
ExhibitsIf you are interested in exhibiting at the 2009 Share The Vision Conference, please complete the conference registration form and check the exhibitor box. There is no charge to exhibit at the conference. However, you must register in advance of the conference. No walk-in exhibitors will be permitted. If you plan on bringing give away items (pens, brochures, etc.), you should prepare for at least 500.
LodgingLodging will be available at the Charleston Marriott (345-6500 or 1-800-228-9290)or the Holiday Inn Express (345-0600).
Facility
Share The Vision 2009 will be held at the Charleston Civic Center in Charleston, WV. The Civic Center is the entertainment and convention centerpiece of Charleston, hosting the majority of the state's premier entertainment, sporting and corporate events. Paid parking is available on site or at the Charleston Town Center Mall across the street.
CEU Sign In SheetsCEU sign in sheets will be distributed by facilitators for all sessions. Please make sure you sign in to document your participation. We realize this may get redundant for those attending the entire conference, but sign in sheets are required by the professional organizations that grant continuing education credits. Sign in sheets will be verified before certificates documenting CEUs will be distributed (See Certificates Below).

CertificatesA certificate documenting your overall participation in the conference will be available at the end of the conference when you turn in your Overall Conference Evaluation Form. Certificates documenting CEUs will be mailed to you after sign in sheets have been verified by the WVPRC's CEU Team.
Food ProvidedContinental breakfast and afternoon snacks will be provided Nov. 17 and 18. Lunch will be provided Nov 18. Water stations will be located throughout the facility.
Conference Coordination and Funding
The WVPRC is funded primarily through two federal grants: the Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Block Grant administered through the WV Division on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse and a Strategic Prevention Framework State Incentive Grant administered through the WV Governor's Office via its Division of Criminal Justice Services. The WVPRC staffs the WV Partnership to Promote Community Well-Being - WV's Governor-appointed substance abuse prevention and intervention planning body. The WVPRC is an affiliate of Marshall University - administratively housed through the M.U. Graduate College and fiscally administered by the
M.U. Research Corp.
