Preventing underage drinking, developing youth into leaders, building communities- these aren't issues that can (or should) be tackled by a single person, coalition, or agency. It takes parterships at all levels, from community to county, intercounty to regional and state, and between all sectors, public, private, and nonprofit, to make a difference. The Underage Drinking Prevention Workgroup of the
Virginia Partnership to Promote Community Well-Being

The purpose of the Underage Drinking Prevention Workgroup (UDP Workgroup) is coordination of a comprehensive statewide network for the prevention of underage drinking.The members of the UDP Workgroup who are also members of the state partnership: Judy Crabtree (KCCHI), Jeannie Harrison (College Representative/SADD), Gig Robinson (ABCA), Denise Smith (OMCFH) and Gary Winter (GHSP).

The members of the UDP Workgroup who are not members of the state partnership: Merritt Moore (BBHHF), Jackie Payne (BBHHF), Kim Mason (DCJS), Deena Ellison (Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Initiative), Travis Helmondollar (SADD, CCI), Larry Kendall (GHS, SADD), Greg Puckett (CCI, WVCADCA), Bill O'Dell (WVPRC), Sherri Ritter (MUGC), Master Sergeant George Saunders (National Guard Drug Demand Reduction Program), Lieutenant Keith Rowan (Buckhannon Police Department), Tim White (Huntington Weed and Seed Program).

The Underage Drinking Prevention and Social Marketing Project at the West Virginia Prevention Resource Center is federally funded though the following grants: The Center for Substance Abuse Prevention's Substance Abuse Prevention & Treatment Block Grant administered through the WV Bureau for Behavioral Health and Health Facilities; The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention's Enforcing the Underage Drinking Laws (EUDL) Grant administered through the WV Division of Criminal Justice Services; and The Center for Substance Abuse Prevention's Strategic Prevention Framework State Incentive Grant also administered through the WV Division of Criminal Justice Services. This project is also supported in part by funds from the WV Governor's Highway Safety Program.
