Grant Programs Available to West
Virginia Communities
|
|
| |
Grants
are often made available to local agencies and
community based organizations. Agencies administering
these "discretionary grants" generally
publish and announcement calling for a "Request
for Proposals," which includes various
guidelines and eligibility requirements. Those
seeking funding submit a proposal, which is
reviewed by the administering agency who, in
a competitive and selective process, determines
funding awards.
If your agency awards discretionary grants
to West Virginia communities through a Request
for Proposal process, we encourage you to contact
Andy Whisman at whisman@marshall.edu
in order to post the grant opportunity on
this site. |

William
T. Grant Foundation
The goal of the William T. Grant Foundation is
to help create a society that values young people
and enables them to reach their full potential.
It pursues this goal by investing in research
and in people and projects that use evidence-based
approaches. We support research on how contexts
such as families, programs, and policies affect
youth, how these contexts can be improved, and
how scientific evidence affects influential adults.
About 80% of our grants support research. We use
about 15% of our budget to support activities
that increase the capacity of scholars, policymakers,
practitioners, advocates, and the media to develop,
understand, and use research. The largest single
example of this is our William T. Grant Scholars
program.
